You get time back, too

Skip the parking search and the queues. On the busiest Copenhagen corridors a Bycycle is as fast as — or faster than — a car, door to door.

Heads-up: car parking isn't included by default. In central Copenhagen a resident permit or paid parking can add several hundred kroner a month — add yours under “How we calculate” for the full picture.

Time saved in traffic

Average Copenhagen cycling speeds run 15–20 km/h; on the busiest corridors a bike is as fast as or faster than a car once parking is counted. Estimates only — adjust to your own route.

The maths, in the open

  • Monthly commute distance = distance each way × 2 × days per week × weeks per month
  • Bycycle = (bike price ÷ ownership months) + charging + maintenance
  • Charging = monthly distance ÷ range × full-charge cost (battery × electricity price)
  • Petrol / electric car = ownership + (per-km cost × monthly distance) + parking
  • Public transport = monthly pass price
  • Time saved = car time (incl. parking) − Bycycle time, per trip

Transparent estimates, not a quote. Car costs follow Danish averages (FDM) and vary with the car, mileage, insurance and parking. Time figures use average city speeds. Adjust any number above to match your own situation.

More than money

Some things a calculator can't measure

Even though Bycycle can help reduce monthly transport costs, the real value is not only financial. An active commute can add movement, fresh air, and a calmer rhythm to the day.

  • Fresh air before and after work
  • Natural daily movement without needing extra gym time
  • A more energised start to the day
  • Better focus and mental clarity for many people
  • A positive mood boost from regular physical activity
  • A simple way to support long-term cardiovascular health
  • Less time sitting during the day
  • Fewer traffic jams and less time looking for parking
  • More predictable commute times
  • Lower CO₂ emissions compared with driving
  • A quieter, calmer journey through the city
  • The feeling of arriving because you enjoyed the journey — not because you endured it

When you choose a Bycycle, you're not only reducing your monthly transport costs.

You're investing in a healthier daily routine, more time outdoors, less stress, and a commute that adds value to your day instead of taking it away.

Some benefits can be measured in Danish kroner. Others are measured in how you feel when you arrive.
